[12] “Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.” – Ecclesiastes 12:12 (NIV)
What came into your mind when you saw the title of this devotional release? Quite funny. Right? But that’s the truth, and I think students can bear witness to this. Too much study wearies the body. But I am glad the Bible doesn’t add soul and spirit.
Guess what? There is no such thing as too much study of the Bible. Again, your human spirit has an unlimited capacity to receive spiritual food from God’s Word. However, when you study, you’ll feel tiredness in your body. But you don’t need to give up.
Apart from the Bible, there are many books in the world today that are worth reading. Day in and day out, new ones are being launched by several authors around the world. And the more you read them, the more you’ll read them. For that reason, learning is endless. If you think you know everything, then don’t try reading books, because if you do, you’ll discover new things in them.
You don’t have to pile a lot of books to read. Being obsessed too much with it will take much of your time from focusing on other important areas of your life. So, create some balance in your life and make time to study, especially the Bible, Christian books, and academic books, for your self-development.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your knowledge in my life. Help me keep studying Your Word without getting weary of learning new things. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
