[13] “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, [14] I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV)
I once heard my local church pastor say that God is unchanging but very progressive. I thought about it for a while and realised it was true. God never changes, but how He deals with mankind changes from one dispensation to another. For instance, in the Old Testament, the standard of measurement for a person’s righteousness before God was the law. But in the New Testament, we are made God’s righteousness in Christ. Amazing. God is a progressive God, so He wants us to progress in our walk with Him. That is why He doesn’t want you to settle for less.
Has God called you to do something great in this life, and you probably feel satisfied after working on it for years? Let me tell you something. There is more room for expansion in your calling. You will have humble beginnings. But do not think small.
Learn from Apostle Paul. He said in Philippians 3:13 that with his many achievements in the ministry, he didn’t allow them to make him settle. Instead, he intentionally forgot his past achievements and pressed toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Dear friend, there is a high calling for you. But before you get there, you must adapt to godly change as the Spirit leads you – both in thoughts and physical exploits. Don’t let your delay in change adaptation prevent you from following God’s leadership unto higher realms of impact upon your life.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your unfailing leadership in my life. Help me to keep working to reach a higher calling in everything You tell me to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
