There Is Hope for Your Situation No Matter How Badly You’ve Messed Up

[15] “So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. [16] He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.” – Luke 15:15-16 (NIV)

Have you interacted with the children of a wealthy person, or a serial entrepreneur before? If not, I have, because I work with lots of them. I have realised that one of the things they don’t like is someone hiring them. In fact, they like to hire others. So when I read the Bible and I see that the prodigal son went to hire himself out to a citizen of the country he went to squander his wealth, it feels like he downgraded his life so much. Oh, mercy! It’s like an entrepreneur closing down his business due to huge losses and can’t take care of himself anymore, to the extent that he has to find a job to secure his life financially. Isn’t that devastating?

See, there is hope for your situation no matter how badly you’ve messed up. When the prodigal son realised that things were getting worse in his life, he didn’t sit down idle. He did something about it. Instead of dying out of hunger, he opted to work for someone on a pig farm. Though he worked, he was still enduring hunger. That feels like what many employees are going through. They are working but are still hungry because what they earn is not enough.

There is more to life than exchanging your time for little income. Although it is good to start from there, you shouldn’t settle there. Whether your life is like the prodigal son or an innocent fellow out of school without a job and staying hungry, look up unto God. Get insight from Him to turn your situation around. Let Him give and restore to you a meaningful life devoid of suffering.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your care. May I never forget to love and depend on You for every provision in my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
