[25] “For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” – 1 Corinthians 1:25 (NIV)
The first time I heard about the foolishness of God, I was a Senior High School student, recently born again, and probably had no in-depth Bible knowledge as, by grace, I am today. I thought of it like this: how can an all-wise God have some form of foolishness in His sovereignty? It’s quite intriguing. Right? Yet, it is.
The Bible says the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom. But what does that mean? Before Paul wrote this verse, he was expounding on how the same gospel is considered useless for unbelievers but much treasured by the children of God (see 1 Corinthians 1:21-22). That is why preaching, although so much treasured, is seen as a foolish work by unbelievers. In fact, it’s sad when some families discourage their young adults and children from venturing into full-time ministry. Oh, what a tragedy!
Dear child of God, understand that your way of life, which is holy before God, will always be seen as of no value before the unbelievers in the world. You cannot keep close associates with unbelievers because they will never recognise your value, except when God touches their hearts to receive the gospel in power. Guard your life and mind from listening to foolish talk from people who don’t see the worth involved in serving the Lord with gladness. A word to the wise is enough!
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to keep myself pure as I serve You. May I never allow my mind to be tossed to and fro by evil talks of men who don’t see the worth of serving in the ministry. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
