Christ Sent You to Preach the Gospel in Power

[17] “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.” – 1 Corinthians 1:17 (KJV)

Paul has always been one of the greatest preachers of all time in the New Testament. He founded many churches, wrote epistles we still use today, and did many magnificent loads of work for the cause of Christ, some of which are recorded in scripture, especially in the book of Acts. But in today’s anchor scripture, he said something that kept him going strong, which I want us to discuss in today’s devotional.

Paul said Christ didn’t send him to baptise people but to preach to them. Oh, and it’s not just raw preaching, but preaching with divine power, lest the cross be made of none effect. That means any believer who thinks preaching is just a mere logical presentation but not a powerful demonstration of God’s power gradually sends a message to his hearers that the cross is useless. Beware of such people, especially in the media-saturated world we live in.

Dear preacher, Christ sent you to preach the gospel in power, not with fleshly understanding. What God wants to release to His people during every sermon you preach is not some mere logical statements or quotes for people to write. No! Prayerfully preach powerfully to people. They need Jesus!!!

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to preach the gospel in power to the hungry souls out there whose lives need spiritual food in a dire manner. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
