[19] “Do not fret because of evildoers or be envious of the wicked, [20] for the evildoer has no future hope, and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.” – Proverbs 24:19-20 (NIV)
I’m not old (as at the time of this writing). But in my few years of serving the Lord, I have seen evil people who duped several others reduce to nothing in few years. Sometimes, such news leaves me in shock because I can hardly take it when an evil but rich person lose his possessions within a short time frame, especially through legal means. Indeed, what Solomon said in Proverbs 27:24 that wealth does not endure forever is true.
Evildoers are sometimes envied because they use evil means to get money. And because many people don’t like to investigate how such people achieved such feats in their lives, they usually attract followers. We live in an evil age where people are doing really awful things to take advantage of people. So you must be careful not to rate a person as “good” because of what he shows out there to others.
The Bible says the evildoer has no future hope. That means, while it’s hard to probe an evil person’s means he used to get into an enviable position in life, time will reveal it. Subject people’s judgments to time, not immediate results. Time reveals a lot of things about people. Don’t just give your heart to any popular thing out there. No! Take your time and follow God’s leadings. He will help you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your immense love and care. Teach me to guard my heart with all diligence, lest I give in to popular but unprofitable things. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
