The Divine Formula to Use to Bear Much Fruit

[2] “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. [4] Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” – John 15:2, 4 (NIV)

Jesus is the vine, and the Father is the vinedresser (or gardener, as some Bible versions put it). So it is the Father who is in charge of ensuring every part of the vine is in good shape, and that is why He prunes the branches (us believers) so we can bear more fruit. But there are some technicalities to note here.

1. No matter how good a tree branch is, if it gets cut off from the main tree, it’ll deteriorate with time and eventually die.

2. Even when the branch of a tree gets pruned by a farmer, it has to remain connected to the tree to receive more nutrients to bear more fruit. That means, for every believer, the divine formula to use to bear much fruit in your walk with God is to remain connected to Jesus. That’s it.

It is the Father who does the pruning, not you. That means you don’t have to concern yourself with how and when He does it. Instead, you just have to follow Him. Pruning is painful. But it is God’s way of purging us from filth in our walk with Him. Every believer who’s serious about God will definitely go through this kind of season in his life. It doesn’t happen once or twice. It happens as many times as the Father wants to do it, so you don’t have control over it.

Nevertheless, I want to give you some simple Biblical advice, especially if you’re a preacher. Watch your life and doctrine closely (see 1 Timothy 4:16). If you constantly check your life and what you say, God will help you to take out several things in your life that are detrimental to your destiny. Press on in faith!

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your love and affection. May I never go a day without connecting to You in fellowship. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
