The Arrogance of Man Will Be Brought Low

[17] “The arrogance of man will be brought low and human pride humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day, [18] and the idols will totally disappear.” – Isaiah 2:17-18 (NIV)

In life, many people like to boast about their achievements and accomplishments. Is that a bad practice? I don’t think so. After all, the Bible encourages us to rejoice in our work individually (see Galatians 6:4). But there is a problem when a person begins to think that all that he has acquired or built is solely by his effort and not by grace. Nebuchadnezzar tried this and ended up spending seven years in the forest, living like an animal, to be humbled by God (see Daniel 4:29-33). The arrogance of man will be brought low in the end.

Dear one, you must learn to give credit to God’s grace for everything you have done, both now and in future. Just because you may not see God’s active working in your life doesn’t mean His eyes are off your life. No! Doesn’t He give you air to breathe? He does, right? But because it’s free, common and enjoyable for everyone, don’t underestimate its value. You can build companies, corporations, ministries, and even your personal life very well. But God is the one who is helping you.

God chooses to exalt whoever He wills. He rules in the affairs of men. Anything that has somehow become like an idol (something highly regarded and prioritised above God) to man will be brought to nothing in the end. So, don’t let what you have deceive you into thinking that there’s no God.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your grace and mercy in my life. Help me to keep recognising You as the upholder of my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
