“[7] For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?” — 1 Corinthians 4:7 NIV
Sometimes, it’s easy to be so engrossed in finding fulfilment in your provisions that you may forget God gave them to you. You breathe each day but never think of how God has been supplying the air clean enough for your system despite global warming and climate change. That is why many people thank God for many things except the air they breathe. How sad!
In 1 Corinthians 4:7, the Apostle Paul draws our attention to the truth that we have all we have now because we received it. Is that not true? Either your possession is someone’s gift to you, or you received it from a vendor by exchanging money for its purchase.
Don’t be deceived, friend. God is your Source, not your salary, parents, guardians or siblings. No matter what they give you, God is the one that provides what they have. Credit God for what you have. And be content, knowing that He who has given you these things will supply the other needs you want when the time is due.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the constant supply of provision. I pray in the name of Jesus, teach me to always credit You for what I have, as I hope in You to meet my needs according to Your riches. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
