[4] “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” – Psalms 37:4 (NIV)
Day in and day out, many things happen in our lives that try to steal our joy in the Lord. For some, it’s a delay in something they are believing God for. For others, it’s an unfortunate thing that happens in their lives unexpectedly, causing tears to run down their eyes. Yes, Jesus did not promise us a problem-free world. So, your challenges and issues are not a surprise to God. But the Bible says in Psalm 37:4, “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
What does it mean to take delight in the Lord? The word “delight”, as used in the scripture, means to make merry over or to be soft. So, delighting yourself in the Lord means to be pliable before Him while maintaining divine joy in your heart. That implies the way God takes you through life will probably not be how you expect it. Your journey may take longer than you expect it. But in the midst of all these troubles, don’t let go of your trust in God.
Yes, we live in a world that is ever-advancing in many ways. And because of how fast development is ongoing, impatience has become the norm for many. However, you cannot translate that mentality into your walk with God. God will give you the desires of your heart, but those desires will be met in ways you don’t expect. Just trust Him and move forward. He is a faithful God.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for all You do for me. Help me to keep trusting You for all the desires in my heart. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
