Seek The Glory of The God Who Sent You

“He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.” — John 7:18 NKJV

Who do you speak for, servant of God? Do you speak for yourself or the Lord? Do you preach yourself or the gospel of the kingdom?

Sometimes, some ministers like talking about their experiences with God to their congregation, whether virtual or physical, so much so that Jesus’ message in their sermons gets missing.

God didn’t call you to preach yourself to people. He called you to preach the gospel of the kingdom, which includes abandoning your message for His.

As ministers, we’re not supposed to build anybody unto ourselves but unto God. Our experiences should be used to enhance and give practical explanations for the original message from God’s Word, not to replace it.

Jesus said anyone who speaks from himself seeks his own glory. But when you seek the glory of the God who sent you, you’re a man of truth. Check yourself. Look deeply into what you’re preaching. There may be faults with your message only you can notice.

As Paul told pastor Timothy to watch both his life and doctrine closely (1 Timothy 4:16), so I urge you to go and do the same. And by God’s grace, I pray that the Lord will guide you on the right path. Shalom.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, I pray for You to help me check my message every time. Unleash upon me the grace to build a check-and-balance system in my calling with the help of the Holy Spirit; so that I’ll become guided on what to continue doing and what to stop doing for the sake of the gospel. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
