Righteousness Exalts a Nation

[34] “Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.” – Proverbs 14:34 (NKJV)

As an African, I have seen many countries on the continent suffer from steadily progressing. One cause of this situation is the greed of politicians and other government officials, who tend to embezzle state funds for private benefits. That has led to some countries having a bad name in the corruption index. Mercy!

Why am I saying this? The Preacher says in Proverbs 14:34a that righteousness exalts a nation. And when I check the meaning of the word “exalt,” it means upliftment. That means it takes right living before God by individuals in a nation for God to lift that nation to glory. However, that is not possible if there are no genuine preachers of the gospel in such a nation. That is why I disagree with anyone who thinks Christianity is useless in a country but instead attributes nation-building to the mere earthly and industrial works of people.

Come on. If you are a preacher, be relentless in doing your work. Keep preaching the gospel regardless of what people say. As long as your doctrine is sound, your little influence on those who listen to you will help them not join the masses in doing evil things to bring national development down. May the Lord grant you more strength to keep doing His will.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your righteousness in my life. Help me to be relentless in preaching the gospel. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
