“Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.” - Galatians 6:1 NIV
As God’s children, criticizing society’s moral filth isn’t part of our calling in Christ. We’re called to preach the Word of God. What comes out of your mouth can restore/comfort or cause damage in the life of another person who heard you, especially those condemned by society.
In Africa, many communities mete out instant justice to people caught in sinful acts like stealing. God knows the police won’t be available every time to save condemned people’s lives. That’s why Christians are around. The Bible says we, children of God who live by the Spirit, should restore (completely repair or perfect) those caught in sin. Jesus practised this verse when some Pharisees brought an adulterous woman before him in John 8.
Instead of Him condemning the woman’s sin, He wisely dealt with her accusers (Pharisees) till she was left alone before Him. Jesus then told her to go and sin no more (John 8:11 NIV). Spirituality doesn’t exempt us from reasoning. When you have to save someone from being condemned by others, pray and ask God to give you a Word that’ll solve the problem. You’re not called by God to be among complainers but to solve problems. Think!
You’re a blessing.
