[39] “Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” [42] They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.” — John 4:39, 42 NIV
Recommendations are powerful tools in life to get access to many places your own efforts can’t take you. I’m not old, but I’ve seen how living well, knowing people and bearing a good name can take you to places you never dream of reaching that fast.
Jesus had several of such encounters in His few years of ministry on Earth. His fame spread throughout Palestine because of what people said about His works. And one of them was His encounter with the Samaritan woman by the well of Jacob.
Jesus used His prophetic gift to unlock mysteries about this woman’s life to get her attention to preach the gospel to her. And from that, she broadcasted His name in the whole city, paving a free ministry doorway to Jesus without paying anything. Today, things are different. It’s sad how some ministers struggle to convince people to gather for spiritual meetings these days.
During Jesus’ time, there were no fliers, internet or media stations for publicity. Yet, thousands were getting saved day by day under His ministry. What happened to us?
I’ve learnt that it’s not about how much your ad budget is over the internet; whether as a businessman or a minister, recommendations from people who’ve benefited from your work can give you free access to high levels of life without stress.
Therefore, I’d advise you that if you get the opportunity to serve others with your gift, overlook the physical figure before you and work diligently with a good character. What he’ll say about you in your absence can help others locate you without you spending hours hunting for opportunities.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, please help me build strong connections with people who’re capable of helping me reach the fullness of my calling in every life endeavour. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
