“Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.” — Proverbs 21:21 NIV
You may have asked other believers this question, “if I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21), and God, who’s love is in me, why should I pursue righteousness and love?”
Well, it’s simple. Simply because you know your identity in Christ doesn’t mean you’re living its manifestation. You’re made righteous and holy in Christ so that you’ll live like it, not just to confess it. In the same way, the love of God is in you so that you’ll be able to express it in deed and truth out of the overflow of grace and not by human strength.
Therefore, we pursue righteousness by living God’s righteousness in us, where we’ll have zero tolerance for every wrongdoing. Also, we pursue love by continuing in its expression through giving every day without expecting a return. Are these without rewards? Certainly not. Pursuing righteousness and love comes with rewards, of which three are inscribed in Proverbs 21:21. That is, the finding of life, prosperity and honour.
So a proven way to find a meaningful life worth living is by pursuing righteousness and love. And also another way to be prosperous is by sowing into people’s lives because the giver never lacks. Then also, you’ll obtain honour without seeking it if you’ll only pursue righteousness and love. These rewards are tremendous but come with requirements to meet.
In God’s kingdom, divine systems and principles work for those who apply wisdom to do what they hear by faith in the Word of God. Do you want your life to be better? Then transition from the realm of receiving to giving continually.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Oh God, I thank you for showing me in Your Word that for me to find life, prosperity and honour, I need to pursue love and faithfulness. Assist me to always live with a godly giving-mentality in the name of Jesus. Amen!
