Partake in the Divine Nature

[4] “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” – 2 Peter 1:4 (KJV)

There is so much loaded in the package of eternal life Jesus has given us. And just the initial verses of 2 Peter 1 lays down a host of them. In 2 Peter 1:2, we’re made to understand that God’s grace and peace can be multiplied unto us through a deeper knowledge of Jesus our Lord and God. Then, in verse 3, it’s also written that we have no need pertaining to eternal life and godliness, such powerful teachings. But in verse 4, a greater revelation of who God has made us in Christ came to light.

In the package of eternal life and godliness, God has given us exceeding great and precious promises. But why? I thought we had no need in eternal life and godliness, so we did not need any help? It’s significant that we shouldn’t have an unbalanced doctrine here.

God’s package of eternal life has everything we need in it. It’s in us, but some will take time to see their full manifestations in our lives. For example, let’s say God gave you a glorious ministry when you were born again. But you don’t just get up and see that manifest. No! You hold it up as a promise in your heart, pray and work towards fulfilling such a divine promise till you see its full manifestation in your life.

Dear believer, God has loaded you with so much that it’ll be a great disadvantage to you to settle for less. The more you delve deeper to know God, the more He’ll show you these great and exceeding promises. And because you see them, your life won’t be ordinary. You’ll partake in the divine nature because what God keeps showing you in your mind will be so different from what ordinary people see and think. Worry not when people misunderstand you for how you talk and think as a child of God. They cannot decode God’s promises upon your life. But as for you, keep moving forward in Christ.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for beautifying my life with Your great and exceeding promises. Help me focus on what You keep showing me so I’ll not live an ordinary life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
