Bondage is one thing many people don’t want to embrace in their lives. It doesn’t help because it impedes freedom. One of the reasons why people don’t want to be sick is because of the inability to move around freely. So everybody cherishes freedom. But just because people are looking for freedom doesn’t mean they have it.
Jesus said in John 8:36 that if He, the Son, sets you free, you will be free indeed. That means real spiritual freedom is in Christ alone, not in the abundance of wealth or stability of your relationships with high-profile people in life. There are many people who walk about physically free but spiritually in bondage. So what Jesus said wasn’t referring to walking about without imprisonment. Instead, He was speaking about the spiritual state of people.
Anybody who isn’t born again is in bondage of sin. That person needs Christ Jesus, not motivational seminars or even self-help books. That is why you must preach the gospel because it is God’s power that liberates people from darkness and its holding power. Let the world know about Jesus. Don’t be shy to proclaim Him because the same people who are not paying attention to the gospel are the same who need freedom.
