[19] “I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.” – Romans 6:19 (NIV)
Every believer who knows God has done great work in transforming his life after receiving the gospel has a story to share. Once, a friend who preaches the gospel ardently testified of how bad he was until he received the gospel of Christ. Today, his life isn’t like that. Glory be to God.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul also wrote about this expressly in Romans 6:16-21. The Bible says a person is a slave to whatever he offers himself to obey, either sin or the way of righteousness. And so, because every unbeliever doesn’t have God, such people are automatic slaves to sin. That is why good advice doesn’t change unbelievers. Why? Because they don’t need good advice. Instead, they need the gospel of Christ to be saved.
Dear child of God, offer yourself as a slave to righteousness, leading to holiness. I mean, give yourself wholly to God, not to evil ways. Don’t mix your identity. You were a slave to sin when you weren’t born again. And so now that you believe, concentrate on offering yourself as a living sacrifice to God. Get rid of all moral filth and the sin that easily entangles, and live your life with God in focus.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for all You do for me. Help me to walk in the consciousness that I am a living sacrifice to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
