Nurse The Conviction

[56] “Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.” — Luke 1:56 NIV

One thing God expects you to do with intentionality is to nurse the conviction He gives you any time He answers specific prayer requests made by you about situations or shows you what’s ahead of you.

Amongst all the virgins in Israel, Mary was the one chosen to bring forth Jesus into the world. The news looked glorious, but the pressure and the weight it carried were so much on her. Besides all the preservation of virginity that Mary had, I believe she also had the spiritual capacity to handle the promise of God upon her life.

Everyone in her vicinity didn’t know the weight she carried. People would have mocked her for getting pregnant while unmarried. But she decided to nurse her conviction. How? By visiting and staying with another like-minded woman. Her name was Elizabeth.

Elizabeth, an old woman, carried John the Baptist in her womb. To people, it was impossible for her to conceive at that time of her life, and that was a similar story to Mary. These two women lived together for about three months, the Bible says, before Mary returned home.

Now here’s a mystery. Elizabeth was six months pregnant before Mary got conceived of Christ (Luke 1:26). So if Mary stayed with her for about three months, then probably she saw her deliver John before leaving.

Assuming that happened, it means Mary saw an impossible pregnancy in Elizabeth’s life come to fruition. So that at the time of leaving, she was fully confident that Jesus would be born through her no matter what she had faced since she may have seen John the Baptist born.

Between the time of a prophetic declaration and its fulfilment is a process.

What are you doing to nurse the conviction God gives you as a solution to your problem after praying? Do you allow it to water down, or do you keep praying about it?

Between the time of a prophetic declaration and its fulfilment is a process. That process involves a lot of warfare, mainly by labour in prayer and Spirit-led steps-taking. Don’t allow anything God has told you to come to pass in your life, to die because of your neglect. No! Keep pushing, keep pressing on, till it works. God is with you! So don’t be afraid. It is well with you.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, thank You for grace and peace in my life. With every conviction You’ve given me about the things happening in my life, help me nurse each of them until their fruition. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
