[11] “If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? [12] Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? [13] If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” – Luke 11:11-13 (NKJV)
Children are great people. They know how to rely on their parents for everything they need without thinking about how they get them. The average child of about six assumes his parents are wealthy, no matter their living conditions. Why? Because their minds are not built up to start fending for themselves. Can you, with the same understanding, think about your relationship with God?
This was what Jesus was explaining to the Israelites. He told them that even if humans knew how to give good gifts to their children, how much more is God giving the Holy Spirit to those who asked Him? Do you think God is that evil to provide you with bad things? Nothing evil proceeds from God. You’ve got to believe that God is good regardless of whatever is happening in this world or whatever evil someone has said about Him. The Bible says in 1 John 1:5 (NKJV) that,
[5] “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.”
There is no darkness (evil) in God. Whatever proceeds from Him is good, and that’s it. Believe this so strongly that God is after your goodness.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to walk in the consciousness of Your goodness in my life, no matter what happens to me. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
