No One Is Justified by the Law in the Sight of God

[10] “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” [11] But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” – Galatians 3:10-11 (NKJV)

The Old Testament contains over six hundred laws the Israelites were meant to obey. There were so many laws that were highly demanding that nobody was able to follow them. That’s why you’ll see scriptures like Ecclesiastes 7:20 (NKJV) say,

“For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin”

Today, the dynamics have changed. Anyone who believes in Christ Jesus as Lord and personal Saviour has been justified before God because of the atonement of Jesus’ blood. So, no one is justified by the law in the sight of God.

That means that if anybody sets aside God’s gracious work of grace through Jesus and thinks he can obey all the laws of the Old Testament in his own strength, God will judge him based on that. And even if the Israelites couldn’t follow the laws, how much more that person? Accept that you need God and live humbly under His mighty hand.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to remain humble under Your mighty hand. I choose to depend on You for everything in my life. For in You I live, move and have my being. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
