[15] “Be very careful, then, how you live —not as unwise but as wise, [16] making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” – Ephesians 5:15-16 (NIV)
There is an old cliche I kept hearing while growing up. It says opportunity comes but once. But is that really true? Maybe this is true for worldly people and singular happenings. But in Christ, this doesn’t work. But why? Because the Spirit realm, in which every believer lives, is a realm of endless possibilities. In other words, God isn’t a God who doesn’t give you a second chance if you miss something He wanted to do for you. He is a merciful God. Think about how many times you kept sinning before you got born again. He kept waiting for you and even sending preachers your way so you’ll hear His Word for your heart to get convicted by His Spirit.
Today, as you read this devotional as a born-again Christian, I challenge you never to give up on any soul you have reached out to for the sake of Christ. Paul says it in a different way in Ephesians 5:16. He says that as a believer, you must make the most of every opportunity. Why? Because the days are evil. Hence, living wisely in this perverse generation as ambassadors of Christ is very paramount.
In Matthew 10:16, Jesus told the disciples that while sending them out to preach the gospel, He had sent them as sheep among wolves, so they ought to be wise. As a carrier of God’s message of reconciliation, you are surrounded by wicked people who need the message you carry. You must be cautious in how you relate with them. May the Lord give you understanding.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your wisdom in my life. Help me to love You deeper and relate to worldly people wisely as I reach out the gospel to them. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
