[1] “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” – Ephesians 4:1 (NIV)
Paul was one of the greatest apostles in Christendom. Today, we still benefit from the work God helped him do concerning the epistles he wrote (by the Spirit’s inspiration). But he went through struggles. He was flogged several times for preaching the gospel, yet he didn’t die. When he was in prison, he wrote an epistle to the Ephesian church, encouraging them to live a life worthy of the calling they had received. Today, if you are born again, you have received a divine calling from the Lord.
When God calls you, you cannot live anyhow. The life of a believer isn’t like that of an unbeliever. Why? Because the believer’s life is guided by the Holy Spirit, not anything in the world. However, as Paul said in Ephesians 4:1, it is possible for a person to be saved and yet live a life contrary to the ways of God. Unfortunately, this is happening. There are Christians who still battle with all sorts of addictions and sins. If you are one of those, let today’s word encourage you. Such a tragedy!
Child of God, be careful of who you listen to and the kind of association around your life. Consecration in fulfilling your divine mandate requires that you don’t touch the filth in the world. So even though you are in the world, you are not of it (see John 17:16). Let your thinking patterns and how you see life be rooted in the Word of God. In that way, you will always live a life worthy of your divine calling in Christ, no matter where you are on the face of this earth.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your Word in my life. May everything about my thoughts be rooted in what You have said concerning my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
