Let Your Love Abound More in Divine Knowledge and Depth of Insight

[9] “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, [10] so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,” – Philippians 1:9-10 (NIV)

From Philippians 1:9-11, Paul poured out heartfelt prayers to the believers in Christ in Philippi, where his letter was addressed. But when I looked at it critically, I realised that it’s not just a prayer he wrote; it’s actually something he desired to manifest in those believers. And I thank God that that text has been preserved for you and me to read, so we can also take it seriously.

God wants you to let your love abound more in divine knowledge and depth of insight. In other words, he doesn’t want you just to love Him and people, but also to grow in knowledge and insight of how to do it. When you understand how God’s kind of love works, it’ll separate you from how the world sees love. You’ll live more and more like Jesus, even in a perverse and crooked generation full of evil.

Sometimes, it’s hard to distinguish between good and evil. But if you look at things from a good understanding of God’s love, you’ll scarcely be in that dilemma for long. So, don’t just settle for the fact that you are a believer. No! Abound in love by growing steadily in the Spirit. It will help you stay pure and blameless before God until the day of Christ.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your love in my life. Help me abound in this love as I grow a deeper understanding of it. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
