Let Love Be Without Hypocrisy

“Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.” — Romans 12:9 NKJV

It’s interesting how people can pretend to be good to those they love and later show a bad attitude, especially after marriage. Some people think as soon as they get married to the other fellow, they already have them forever; that they can treat them anyhow. That’s not what the Bible teaches.

In Romans 12:9, Paul tells us that we should let love be without hypocrisy. Then, he further explained it by telling us to hate (abhor) what’s evil and cling to what’s good. Not everything good is attributed to God because some get done with bad intentions and hidden ripple effects. However, anything evil isn’t godly. So here’s my point.

We’re supposed to love one another as children of God (John 13:35). However, that love of God in us must not be mixed with evil.

Do you hate what’s evil, or do you hate evil people? Do you love what’s good and keep practising it? The ball is in your court. Judge yourself. Don’t carry bad intentions about your fellow brother in Christ, and claim to love him wholeheartedly. If you do, it’s not love but rather hypocrisy. Love people as Christ love them.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that You’ll empower me to love people just as you love them, with no hypocrisy. Help me to maintain a clean mindset about people, even those who do evil to me, so that Your Word will continue to dwell in me richly.
