[18] “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” – Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)
The Epistle of Ephesians is one of the most organised epistles written by the Apostle Paul. He covered a lot of areas in Christendom in that epistle alone. However, while concluding the letter, he made some requests for the believers in Ephesus to do for him. Today, that request is one of the heartfelt needs of almost every pastor or shepherd in the Body of Christ.
Paul urged believers to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. Following that, we should be alert and always keep praying for all the Lord’s people scattered across the world. You may read this in a country where serving Jesus is no problem. But what about other countries that criminalise people from gathering for church? Yes, there are countries where open worship of Jesus is forbidden and punitive by the law, especially in some parts of the Middle East. Believers in such areas need your prayers.
Don’t be selfish, dear one. Do not think your intercession is useless. It is very much needed in the body of Christ. The Spirit realm is big yet invisible. You may never know how your little prayer for that believer you don’t know will provoke heaven to step up for his case. People are going through very tough situations in this world. Pray for them!
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to intercede for believers. I pray, oh God, step in the case of people who need You so their lives can move on in faith. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
