“Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.” — Joshua 1:3 NKJV
Four hundred-plus years ago, God told Abraham that He had given him and his offspring the land of the Canaanites forever (Genesis 13:14-15). However, when the set time was due to take possession of the land, they came to meet giants on it. The prophecy was there, but they had to fight to get the land. That is what some of the prophecies God releases look like.
Suppose God has told you that this year, you’re going to see progression in your area of work; that doesn’t mean you’ll not put in any effort, relaxing till the prophecy gets fulfilled by itself. You have to work, especially by prayer.
Demon-oppressed and influenced people may be occupying where God has given you through a prophecy. But we know the devil is a defeated foe (Hebrews 2:14-15); he has no power and doesn’t have any right over God’s children.
However, it’s unfortunate that many children of God aren’t conscious of God’s defeat over the devil. So they permit him to keep harassing them with bad things here and there.
You, as a believer in Christ, should note that just because the devil is defeated doesn’t mean he has stopped working. He still has the ability to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). He’s still cunning.
Don’t give him a chance in your life, either through sin or neglect of spiritual responsibility. Keep praying and fellowshipping with God, both privately and corporately (in church). These spiritual disciplines help enforce the defeat of the devil in your life. Be up to task.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
God, help me to be up to task. Assist me to be more consistent in practising the very spiritual disciplines that keep me connected to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
