[35] And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” – John 6:35 (NKJV)
Bread is one of the oldest types of food in this world. It dates as far as the early days of the Old Testament. Imagine that. And, despite how old it is, it’s still being used daily. But of late, many people cannot eat bread without a drink or water attached to it. Now, I am not a doctor or a medical practitioner, so I cannot say it’s either good or bad to eat bread with a drink. All that I am saying here is that there is another kind of bread that you don’t need any extra beverage or water when you eat it. That bread is Jesus.
Jesus is the complete bread of life. He assures us in His Word that anyone who comes to Him and partakes in the food He gives will never hunger, and he who believes in Him will never thirst. But you may ask, “What does Jesus mean?” What Jesus is saying isn’t physical but spiritual. Every Christian eats in the flesh just as any ordinary person does to food. But taking in the Word of God has the capacity to satisfy every craving in your soul, something nobody can get from this physical realm.
Do you love Jesus? Do you spend time feeding on His unfailing Word? If you don’t, then you are missing out significantly in your life. It is good to work and earn money. It is good to strategise and thrive in business. But never do all those things while putting aside your relationship with God. Through your intimacy with God, you’ll get the strength to thrive in every area of your life.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for completing me. Help me be an ardent pursuer of knowing more of Your unfailing Word daily. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
