Good News

“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” - Luke 2:10-11 NIV

The moment Jesus was born, there was an announcement of this good news first to shepherds keeping their flock at night. Luke doesn’t state where they came from, but it’s written in Matthew 2:12 that they came from a different country in the East. That means the news was known by Gentiles first before it spread across Israel. In fact, if the Magi (wise men) hadn’t told Herod about it, he wouldn’t have known that the Messiah was born.

Have you realized that the people who celebrate any good news that happens in your life are usually those far away? Well, the people around us become familiar with us over time. So they hardly rejoice with us when there’s a progression in our lives through our daily little steps. Today, it’s not surprising that the number of Christians outside Israel surpasses all believers in Israel. Jesus came to His own, but they didn’t receive Him (John 1:12).

Even though 25th December isn’t the exact day Jesus was physically born, it’ll always be remembered and used to celebrate the first coming of the Prince of Peace. Christmas isn’t just a festive season. It’s for us to reflect on the multi-generational impact of Jesus’s first coming on the earth. Be born again to become one family with Christ.

You’re a blessing.
