Placed Him In A Manger

“and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.” - Luke 2:7 NIV

A manger is simply a trough from which animals eat. When Jesus was born, there wasn’t any maternity yard in a hospital nearby. Mary wrapped him in swaddling clothes and placed him in a manger. I suppose that was the only option for her. But there’s a spiritual understanding to be discerned from this thing that happened as captured in the Bible.

Naturally speaking, it was inappropriate for a king like Jesus to be born in this way. But being placed in a manger by his mother means that God sent Him to a strange world, where nobody knew who He was from above. No wonder so many people misunderstood Him during His ministry on earth. It’s written that Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost (Luke 10:19). The people were already lost before He, the Way, came.

Are you in a place you feel odd? That feeling doesn’t always mean God doesn’t want you to be there. In most cases, God sent you there so that you’ll witness Christ to these odd people, who’re probably unsaved but don’t know yet. Don’t attribute every uncomfortability to God. Instead, pray for Him to reveal why He sent you to your uncomfortable zone so that you’ll live on purpose there too. God be with you.

You’re a blessing.
