“His Lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.’ ” — Matthew 25:23 NKJV
One powerful way Jesus described the kingdom of heaven is the usage of parables. In Matthew 25:14-30, he illustrated this kingdom using the parable of talents. He taught how the kingdom of heaven is like a Master giving talents to servants for work according to their capacity. Then later, this Master comes back to inspect the work done and then usher rewards to it. From this parable, Jesus is simply teaching us that God rewards faithfulness.
Everything God gives to you is a test tool. If you’re faithful to manage it, He’ll reward you with expansion. That explains why the mega-church pastor usually has to start ministry with very few members so that his faithfulness will become tested by small beginnings.
Some people are used to despising small beginnings because of how poor the nature of things is. But friend, hear this. In Zechariah 4:10 (NIV), the Bible says,
“Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone in the hand of Zerubbabel?”
In God’s training school, He doesn’t set a great person on high when he begins to serve Him. No! He allows the person to serve his way up, becoming faithful in little things many despise.
Just like how the Master in Jesus’ parable disappeared for a long time, it could be that God won’t always come to check how you use the divine gifts He has given you to work. It’s up to you. But there will come a day He’ll judge your works. Lay necessity on yourself to serve God with all your heart with what He has given you. He’s the lifter of men, and when He sees your faithfulness, He’ll reward you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
