[8] “The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception.” – Proverbs 14:8 (NIV)
In Proverbs 16:25 (KJV), the Bible says,
“There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
So it is possible to think what you intend to do is good in your mind, yet totally wrong when viewed through the lens of God’s Word. That is why Solomon, the same person whom God inspired to write Proverbs 16:25, advises you to give thought to your ways as a prudent person. Think about this for a minute!
Do you know how well you’ll prevent endangering your life when you discover that what you’re thinking of doing won’t end well with you in future, especially if God isn’t the source of that idea? Let me say this, especially to leaders. When you don’t process your decisions with your core leadership team, explain to them and allow them to review those decisions, then you will end up doing whatever comes to mind with unwilling support from your people. And at the end of the day, if something goes wrong with that decision, they’ll blame you.
Don’t think you know everything. You don’t. Also, you don’t have to submit every idea God gives you to people to review for you, or else some will end up discouraging you. But most importantly, think deeply about what you intend to do before following suit. May God help you.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to discern the far impact of every decision I make today and correct me from errors I will make in my life but may think there’s nothing wrong with them. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
