Fix Not Your Eyes on What Is Seen

[17] “ For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, [18] while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NKJV)

Paul was one of the great men of God that ever lived. But even though we called him great, he faced many battles that many people, including some Christians, never want to go through. Many of his battles are written in the book of Acts. You can read them in your Bible. But the question is, what kept him pressing on? We should look at it because such things are powerful for overcoming trials in life.

In 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, Paul penned down some great revelations he lived with that helped him fulfil his ministry. Here are they:

  1. He stated that the afflictions he was going through were ‘light,’ not weighty.
  2. Those afflictions have a purpose. That is, to work a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory for us.
  3. He looked at the things which are not seen – the things of the Spirit.

With these three, which one(s) have you lived with? Which one has permeated your soul so much that whatever you are going through is not enough to tie you down? Don’t fret about your situation, for it is time to fix not your eyes on what is seen but on the eternal promises of God. That is what will position your spirit to help you embrace the difference.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your evergreen promises in my life. Help me fix my gaze on what You have said concerning my life, not my atrocities. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
