“When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” - Matthew 2:13 NIV
The devil can sense the move of God but cannot know who God is raising. So he suggests evil thoughts to people in high positions; so that there’ll be mass destruction of people or things related to that move of God. That is called the miscalculations of the enemy. We saw it in the lives of Moses and Jesus too.
God preserves those He chooses through His guidance and directions. But it’s left with those chosen to obey Him. Because God weighs the motives of each man (Proverbs 16:2), He knew Herod intended to kill Jesus even before that man issued a decree to kill all males born who were two years and below. He sent an angel, who appeared to Joseph in a dream to take Jesus and Mary and escape to Egypt, the very place God delivered the Israelites several years ago. Not only that, he old told Joseph to stay there until He tells them when to come back.
If Joseph had challenged God’s instruction to escape to Egypt, Herod would have killed little Jesus. Please understand that it’s sometimes difficult to recognize your opposition. So if you’re privileged for God to show some, know how to behave towards them so that you’ll not end up in trouble. Don’t hate people. May God guide you.
