Do the Obstacles You Face Make You Lazy?

[13] “A sluggard says, “There’s a lion in the road, a fierce lion roaming the streets!” – Proverbs 26:13 (NIV)

In my few years in ministry (as at the time of this writing), I’ve realised that many people don’t want to do difficult things in life. They take the easy road, prevent taking risks and avoid embracing swift changes Jesus brings to them due to their old ways of doing this. No wonder Solomon said that the sluggard says, “There’s a lion in the road, a fierce lion roaming the streets!” Do the obstacles you face make you lazy?

Proverbs 26:13 means that if you meet an obstacle in your race of faith and refuse to face it, you’re a sluggard or lazy. That means before God, taking risks out of faith is part and parcel of the life you received in Christ. So quit settling for the lie that Jesus came to give you a comfortable life; it’s the opposite.

You cannot get to the extremist area of your calling in Christ if you’re a settler in your comfort zone. Press on; defy the odds and do what God has called you to do amid fierce opposition. The Lord Jesus will pave the way for you in this dark world to shine out Him. May the grace of the Lord Jesus be upon your life.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to see obstacles on my path of destiny as a signal that I’m on the right path, not to make me lazy. Grace me with the strength to go the extra mile. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
