Deliverers Will Go Up to Mount Zion to Govern the Mountains of Esau

[21] “Deliverers will go up on Mount Zion to govern the mountains of Esau. And the kingdom will be the LORD’s.” – Obadiah 1:21 (NIV)

Jacob and Esau were two twin brothers in the Old Testament, noted for a lot of feuding between them. The Bible says God loved Jacob but hated Esau (see Romans 9:13). Why? It isn’t because Jacob was blessed while Esau was cursed. No! Jacob was the chosen lineage in Jesus’ genealogy, while Esau wasn’t. It was made more manifest when Esau matured and married wives from the cursed tribes (the Ishmaelites & Canaanites). Because of that, today, all of Esau’s descendants (and the cursed generations of Canaan), spread across the globe, are the frontlineers of Islam and other grievous evils.

So, when the prophet Obadiah prophesied that “… Deliverers will go up on Mount Zion to govern the mountains of Esau,” he spoke of our day when believers in Christ will rise to possess lands, companies, societal structures, governments, and nations so that every area in this world will be filled with Christ.

As I talk about this right now, it’s still being fulfilled. Every believer has a part to play in this, and God knows this very well. That is why it is essential to discover your calling (not only about ministry but also the work sector) so you can pursue it with diligent work sponsored by grace and divine possession. It is actually not okay for leading companies in several industries to be led by unbelievers. Think about how the devil can manipulate such people’s minds to innovate more ways to do evil things!

Believers must rise in their various fields of endeavour to possess the land. The kingdom of the world will be ruled by Christ through partnership with believers around the world. But the acceleration towards the fulfilment of this prophecy is delayed when we remain slack concerning purpose fulfilment and stop preaching the gospel. Dear one, step up and fulfil your calling.
