Buy the Truth

“Buy the truth, and do not sell it, Also wisdom and instruction and understanding.” — Proverbs 23:23 NKJV

In our generation, one of the easiest ways to acquire something you want or need but don’t have is to buy it. Although this isn’t bad, it is, in essence, the same way some things are earned in the Spirit realm.

Jesus said in Mark 8:36 (NKJV) that

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

Mark 8:36 NKJV

Now that implies that in the spirit realm, some people can go as far as trading their souls for fame, wealth, and other material things. So to buy something isn’t only about exchanging money for goods. It goes far beyond it.

Centuries before Jesus set foot on this earth, Solomon penned down Proverbs 23:23, telling us to buy the truth and not sell it (use it for merchandise). Now Solomon was the wisest man on earth in his time. Although he got the spirit of wisdom, he knew the cost of acquiring this divine wisdom to a very high degree in the realm of God. He knew that it was not only about God filling him with His wisdom, but also about making efforts to buy the truth. But what does this mean?

Buying the truth means making sacrifices to obtain original information from God. And that has a direct correlation with fellowship with the Almighty.

When it comes to the feeding of our spirits with the Truth (which is Jesus–the Word), God doesn’t use money. He wants our time of fellowship with Him, His Word (the Bible) and His Spirit (mainly through prayer). Have you seen a man who communicates the truth of God’s Word spectacularly and accurately? Never think he got there by accident. It’s by his intense study and time with the Lord.

Make time to be with your Maker. He desires to fill you with His knowledge. Soak anointed preaching tapes and books from His servants. In that way, you’ll be on the path of sacrificing to buy the Truth. Remember that God will always be God. So it’s much better to come to Him and know Him better than to procrastinate.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help me make enormous sacrifices to know You experientially. Cause me to change my schedules and rearrange my priorities; so that I’ll not miss being in fellowship with You every day of my life. Amen.
