[2] “On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.” – 1 Corinthians 16:2 (NKJV)
Did you know that God wants you to become an active financial contributor to God’s kingdom growth? Maybe you are unaware of it, but it is plain in scripture. In 1 Corinthians 16:2, Paul entreated the believers in the Corinthians church to reserve an amount of money to give to God’s house, especially on the first day of the week. At the time this epistle was written, I wasn’t there. So, I don’t know which specific day Paul meant when he said the first day of the week. But since many believers meet on Sunday, let’s take it to be Sunday.
According to the verse, giving your offering every week is very important. In other words, you must be intentional about reserving money for offering, especially on Sunday. God knows we live in a busy world, and some will likely skip attending church on weekdays. That is why He led Paul to caution believers to be more intentional about offering on Sundays.
If you are going to get the maximum blessing you can ever get for giving in God’s house, you cannot give casually or sparingly. You must give bountifully with intentionality. I mean, add offering to your budget every week. It’s a way God uses to teach you consistency. Become responsible for your finances, dear one.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your grace. Help me to be intentional about reserving money for offering every week. May I never lack. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
