[2] “On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.” — 1 Corinthians 16:2 NIV
Paul founded many churches in ministry, although he wasn’t physically present in each of them concurrently. One of them was the Corinthian church. They had so many problems, most of them stemming from their spiritual immaturity (1 Corinthians 3:1). Though Paul dealt with some of the issues in his letters, he didn’t forget to speak about offerings too.
In 1 Corinthians 16:2, Apostle Paul gave an instruction that each one in the church should set something aside to give every first day of the week. Well, I don’t know whether their first day was Sunday or not, because it’s not written in the Bible. But for sure, it was a day they had corporate worship, just like most of us have on Sunday mornings. So today, it’s not wrong to set aside some money to give in church every Sunday, even if you skip giving during midweek or weekend (Friday) services.
Whatever you plan, you set an order for it. If you plan your offering, go by it. But above all, don’t just view this as responsibility, but as a spiritual investment because unto God, giving is an opportunity to receive, not to lose (Luke 6:38).

Plan your regular offerings. Regularly doing this will prevent you from mismanaging your finances, especially if you have to take on several other responsibilities. If you’re working, make giving a part of your budget every month, especially your tithe and Sunday offerings. Don’t use forgetfulness as an excuse because you’ve been told in scripture to plan it.

You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, give me the wisdom to plan my regular offerings in the name of Jesus. Help me to stick to it in obeisance to Your Word in divine honour. Amen!
