Are You Perceiving Jesus Wrongly?

[49] “And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; [50] for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” — Mark 6:49 - 50 NKJV

Once upon a time, after massive ministry exploits, Jesus told His disciples to sail ahead for Him to join them later. After they were gone, He departed to the mountain to pray (Mark 6:46). But after being charged in prayer, He walked on the sea to meet them.

Now here’s a mystery. Scripture doesn’t tell us how much time Jesus spent praying alone. We only know that He walked on the sea to meet them. Jesus is very fast and can step into your situation even if you think there’s a delay by you. But when He does that, can you discern that it is Him?

When the disciples saw Jesus, they thought it was a ghost approaching them. So they cried out of fear. But Jesus spoke to them, saying, Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” Immediately after they heard that, all their fears vanished. Why? Because they’ve seen their Master. My question to you, dear reader, is, “Are you perceiving Jesus wrongly in your life?”

God works in mysterious ways. And sometimes, a lack of accurate discernment can make you interpret His actions for the wrong things. It’s God who turns people’s hearts to help you. He’s the same God who orchestrates happenings around your life to elevate you from a low position to a high level of influence. It’s not always about your qualifications, titles, work experience, or speech fluency. No! It’s by His grace.

As long as the disciples didn’t hear from Jesus that it was Him, they were troubled. So if you have problems discerning the works of Jesus in your life, focus on hearing God correctly. It’ll be solved.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your immense grace at work in my life. Give me the wisdom to discern Your workings in my life accurately, lest I use my own efforts to substitute what Your grace does in my life. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
