“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” — Romans 8:28 KJV
I have read Romans 8:28 and confessed, “All things work together for my good” several times. But until recently, I didn’t recognise that promise isn’t for everybody in Christ. It’s for only two categories of people in the Lord:
- Those who love God
- Those who are called according to God’s purpose
Read the scripture (Romans 8:28) again, this time slower. If you’re a Christian and you don’t love God, or you don’t see yourself called according to God’s purpose, you’re out of the benefactors of this promise.
Firstly, what does it mean to say, “All things work together for good…”? That statement means no matter the circumstances around the life of a believer who loves God, everything will work collaboratively in favour of that fellow. Do you know something?
Favour isn’t always joyful when conferred on you. Sometimes, it comes with pain. Look at Mary’s life. When she became pregnant with Jesus, strange things began to happen in her life. She was highly favoured and yet with problems. Eventually, we still mentioned her name today because of how remarkable her role in Jesus’ earthly life was significant. However, she was a virgin who loved God.
If you want all things to work together for your good this year, discover your purpose in Christ and follow God with a loving heart. That’s simple. Right? But it’s the truth. Do this, and you’ll never regret it your whole life.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Oh God, I choose to serve You with loving kindness in my heart. Help me to know why you brought me to this earth. So that this year going forward, my life will impact many unto Christ like never before. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
