“Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.” — Romans 14:1 NIV
In Christ, every child of God has faith. The Bible says in Romans 12:3 (NKJV) that “… God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” However, there are variations in the levels and dimensions of faith operations in Christendom. Some believers have more faith; others have little faith. Some have strong faith, and yet still, others have weak faith.
When it comes to faith, we can classify Christians into several categories. But there’s one group I want us to speak about today in the Bible. It’s those with weak faith. Apostle Paul says we shouldn’t neglect such people. Instead, we should accept them. But why?
The word “accept” in that scripture (Romans 14:1) means granting a person access to one’s heart. So, as a believer in Christ, to accept someone whose faith is weak literally means consider that person’s faith condition and treat him carefully with your heart, making sure that you’ll not do anything that will hinder his faith or weaken it more.
See, so many people profess to be Christians, and they’re truly saved. But most of them aren’t well vested in the Word of God, so their faith is weak. They don’t understand many truths in the Bible and always have questions about why certain things are done by believers, even in church. So as a mature Christian, consider such people before doing something when they’re around. It’s good to explain your reasons for your actions to these people so that they don’t take offence and start leaving the Church.
Remember that you’re an ambassador of Christ. You don’t have to compromise God’s standards to win anybody to Jesus, but as to what you have to adjust for people to get saved, that won’t end you up sinning or speaking against God; consider it because of the faith strength of others.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, give me the grace to accept those whose faith is weak in Christ. Let me become conscious of my attitude, any day and anytime, such that I’ll always be prompted and mindful of not doing anything that’ll hinder the faith of others in Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
