A Discerning Person Keeps Wisdom in View

[24] “A discerning person keeps wisdom in view, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.” – Proverbs 17:24 (NIV)

What does it mean to keep wisdom in view? It’s just like having a long view of life, especially concerning how things will turn up over a decision you make or a path you choose to follow. For example, if you are travelling on a long journey with a faulty car, you can expect that that car may break down on the journey. That is why drivers who know this choose not to risk their lives when these things happen.

There is something I’ve realised about life. It is better to have wisdom and do adequate research before beginning something. Many people who have failed in a lot of the things they tried doing, be it business, ministry, corporation or even schooling, did fail because they never counted the cost of what they decided to do. Even as I have led our ministry for over seven years (at the time of this writing), to date, I haven’t been highly fascinated by any new project our leadership team has agreed on. Why? Because it involves work, sometimes at a magnitude they aren’t entirely aware of.

Dear one, let your eyes focus on God’s reward for everything you do. Make excellence your hallmark. Be discerning enough to watch how things will turn up in any new thing you decide to do. And remember, you don’t have to listen to everything people say about the things you do because most of them don’t fully understand the work you do. May the Lord help you massively.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me be more discerning on any new decision I make, lest I get caught up in problems derailing my strength to continue pressing on. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
