God Still Chooses the Foolish Things of the World to Shame the Wise

[26] “Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. [27] But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” – 1 Corinthians 1:26-27 (NIV)

There is something about God that keeps marvelling at me and many others. It’s in how He chooses what people disregard and makes it into something very valuable. In a world where many people only like projecting an image of “perfection” on the outside, several people aren’t interested in knowing people’s bad sides of life. But I thank God that He’s not like that.

In 1 Corinthians 1:26, Paul asked the believers in the Corinthian church a rhetorical question. He told them to think about how their individual lives were when God called them. Not many were wise (intelligent) by human standards; not many were influential or of noble birth (from a royal family). God, through Paul, gathered a congregation of then-societal “nobodies” and taught them the Word of God for them to become mighty men of faith. I’m glad to tell you that this initiative of God didn’t cease after Paul’s lifetime. It continues to happen.

God still chooses the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. He is still in the business of turning people rejected by society into sought-after people by the world for His glory. Do you feel disadvantaged in life? If yes, then be assured that you are part of God’s plan to lift you up. So, don’t give up on yourself. Only remain humble under His mighty hand.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for choosing me. May I keep staying humble under Your mighty hand so that I can do what You tell me to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
