by[11] “Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” – Romans 5:11 (NIV)
What is reconciliation? To be united with someone or something you lost connection to. Right? Distant family members usually reconcile with themselves after a family gathering. It’s the same for colleagues, especially those who return from extended leave periods. That’s all fine. But before God, it isn’t like that. Man lost connection to God the moment he sinned, way back in Genesis 3 when the fall happened.
God, knowing how precious humanity is to Him, decided not to let this break in connection to man be a forever thing. He initially brought the law to the Israelites, but they failed to live by it. But He loved the world so much that He gave the world Jesus Christ to come, die and atone for the sins of humanity. Today, there is no hindrance between God and man because Jesus has cleared the way by taking away sin.
The scripture confirms this by saying in Romans 5:11 that we have received reconciliation through Jesus Christ. Today, anybody at all can draw closer to God and be saved because the grace that brings salvation has appeared to all men (see Titus 2:11). Come to Jesus no matter how wretched your life is or has become, and He will transform you.
