[17] “In a lawsuit the first to speak seems right, until someone comes forward and cross-examines.” – Proverbs 18:17 (NIV)
Well, I’ve not been in court many times, but one of my uncles has worked as a clerk there for many years. According to his experience, it is always good for the whole house to hear the sides of the story from the prosecutor and the defendant before the judge can make a solid judgment. Without both sides speaking, it is not prudent to pass judgment.
You may say it is an Earthly court system. But this thing was already in existence, even before Jesus came to the Earth. Solomon had that system and even implemented it when two women were fighting over a baby. It is just that in modern times, the court structure has been well-formalised in several countries. What point am I making here?
As a believer, you are eligible to judge cases, especially those concerning relationship problems. Because of this privilege God has given you, you must be patient when judging cases between people. Don’t say person A is right or person B is wrong if you haven’t heard the two sides of the story. Don’t destroy relationships by passing judgment on people out of impatience.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of patience in love. Help me judge every case before me wisely without destroying precious relationships. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
