[26] “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father —the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.” – John 15:26 (NIV)
When I was a child, I remember how my dad used to judge cases based on the testimony of others. When something happens with others around, he would call all those who were around to describe what happened before making a solid decision to punish the one at fault. What am I saying here? The testimony of others is necessary to establish a firm confirmation of something that happened or the existence of something.
Jesus told the Apostles that when the Holy Spirit comes, He will testify about Him. The word “testify” used in that verse means “be a witness.” We all know that someone can’t be a true witness to another in court without seeing what happened. Right? So, if the Holy Spirit testifies about Jesus, then it means that He has been fully aware of Jesus’ existence since the dateless past.
Today, if you are born again, the Holy Spirit lives in you. That said, you have also been given the power by the same Spirit in you to testify about Jesus to others through the preaching of the gospel. You don’t need to be afraid of what an atheist says about you preaching the gospel because the One in charge of your testimony about Jesus is not mere head knowledge of the Bible but the Holy Spirit. As you fellowship with the Word, make a conscious effort to know the Holy Spirit in you more intimately. It’ll help you live a victorious Christian life every day.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for all You do for me. As I know that Your Spirit in me is my inner witness, so help me proclaim Your gospel without fear. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
