[2] Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.” — Habakkuk 2:2 NKJV
After the prophet Habakkuk had prayed and laid complaints of how bad things were going on in the land of Israel, God replied to him by saying, “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.”
God was telling Habakkuk that even though things weren’t going well, there was a vision about how great the future he desired for Israel to be to come. That’s remarkable news for Habakkuk to hear. Right?
While this scripture has been used several times to teach on the subject of purpose, it speaks more about how God will transform places covered by evil works of the devil to be centres where Christ will become expressed. Breaking it down to every individual in the body of Christ’s role to play according to the empowerment of the Spirit of grace is what I call purpose-driven living.
Your divine assignment will take time to get fulfilled in the Lord. And sometimes, you’ll not have enough resources to do everything God puts in your mind to accomplish. That is why it’s significant to write the vision. So that,
- You’ll not forget what God told you and,
- You’ll run with it all your life (for it to always be in your mind and nurtured through prayer and gradual work).
Beloved, we live in a chaotic world. And while it’s good to cultivate the vision God shows you by prayer, fasting and work, never forget to live a specially designed disciplined life in the Lord that’ll enable you to focus on the fulfilment of your divine assignment.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Oh God, thank You for the gift of vision. In as much as they may not be everything I need to fulfil it available, help me to cultivate it and work it out as You lead me. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
