“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” — John 4:24 KJV
I’ve heard many people ask this question, “Who is God?” The answer is in today’s devotional anchor text (John 4:24). God is a Spirit. Hebrews 12:9 will tell you that He’s the Father of spirits. Spirits don’t have physical bodies. Right? But the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Jesus bodily (Colossians 1:19). So Jesus is the image of our invisible God (Colossians 1:15).
If you want to know God, Jesus is the one you must study. He’s the perfect reflection of God. And He is God. He wants us to worship Him, but not according to our own ways.
If you want to know God, Jesus is the one you must study. He’s the perfect reflection of God.

According to John 4:24, Jesus described how God wants to be worshipped by every New Testament believer: in spirit and in truth. The question is, “how do we worship God in spirit and in truth?”
We worship God in spirit through our fellowship with the Holy Spirit in us. And then, we worship God in truth through our fellowship with the Word (Jesus-the Truth). These two are necessities of worship in God’s kingdom, and none should not be disregarded.
Do you know the Holy Spirit in you? How much do you fellowship with Him? Do you hear Him speak to you? Do you spend time studying the Word? Or you’ve replaced your personal times in God’s presence with other unimportant earthly duties. How much of the Word you’ve heard from others has become a reality in your life?
Are you so busy working for God that you don’t have time for the Master of the work? A perfect natural example of this scenario is when relationship partners or couples get so busy taking care of life and family activities that they forget to spend time together in secrecy.
God’s primary intention for saving you isn’t to use you for ministry. It’s to have a life of fellowship with you (Mark 3:14). Ministry is good. But it shouldn’t be a god in your life. It should be an overflow of your fellowship with God.
Get so engulfed in the study, reading, listening, and practising of the Word as you follow the Holy Spirit. You’ll see your life transformed beyond measure.
You’re a blessing.
