[15] “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants.” – Psalms 116:15 (NIV)
How do you feel when you hear that a faithful servant of God has passed on? Sometimes, it’s very sad, especially if that person is very young. For older adults, it’s considerable. However, in Psalms 116:15, the Bible says it is precious in God’s sight when any faithful servant passes on. Note that it doesn’t say that God is the one who kills them. It’s just precious before Him because those people have made an impact and will have their legacy continuing to live on. Some of the most impactful Christian books I have read came from ministers who passed on over a decade ago.
Dear one, weep not when a faithful servant of God passes on. It may be sad to hear that on the news or even see it happen in your family. But meditate on the legacy that person has left behind and multiply it to impact many more people. Why do I say that? Because the Word of God never grows old.
Even if that servant of God didn’t put in leadership structures well, you who take over the position should fix those issues. Don’t watch the legacy die while you are around. Yes, there is no perfect person on Earth. So, many servants of God also have private issues they are dealing with. You will likely inherit challenges as a successor. But remember that you are appointed there to be the change.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me see Your servants according to Your light and not their weaknesses. May I honour them always. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
